Meeting the needs of ELLs with Sheltered Instruction and Personalized Learning

It’s 2017 and we are on the verge of an era of innovation in learning. How can teachers support their students’ needs while pushing them farther and faster than ever before towards rewarding and productive futures? While we shelter instruction for our ELs we also enhance language development for their English only peers, A.L.L.s (Academic Language Learners). This article, by Getting Smart, “Supporting English Language Learners with Next -Gen Tools” provides information about how balance supporting ELs language development needs while encouraging students to think more critically and use technology to personalize their learning. Outlines and recommendations for tech tools that support language development are also shared.
